What to do in an Emergency and when we are closed

These premises are open from 08:00 – 18:30 Monday to Friday.

The Surgery is manned during these times and any telephone calls or enquiries will be dealt with by a member of staff.

Medical Emergencies

Chest pain, severe bleeding and severe shortness of breath require an ambulance – please call 999.

If your symptoms are not listed above, from 6.30pm until 8.30am the next working day, and at weekends, please call NHS 111 for medical advice.

There are some emergencies that require immediate transfer to hospital. There may be occasions when the practice staff or Out of Hours Service advise you to call 999 straight away and will not offer to visit first. This is because speed of transfer to hospital is of the essence and assessment with access to hospital investigations is required immediately. In these situations a visit adds unnecessary delay and an ambulance is what is required.  Equally, coming to the surgery with an emergency such as chest pain, will delay the ambulance. It is better to stay at home and dial 999 if this is the case.

Out of hours, services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Dental Emergencies

Our doctors have no dental training and are unable to provide dental advice or treatment. If you have a dental emergency you should consult your usual dentist.

If you do not have a usual dentist there is an NHS emergency dental service available on 01905 681796  during office hours.

Accident and Emergency

Whatever the day or time, if you or someone else experiences severe chest pain, loss of blood or suspected broken bones, go to your nearest accident and emergency department or call 999.

Improving Access

SW Healthcare is working alongside practices in South Worcestershire to ensure patients can book into Improved access (IA) appointments, which are available 7 days a week, evenings and weekends.

Currently patients only have access to pre-book these appointments with their own practice during practice core hours. Services are advertised to patients through practice websites, notices in urgent care services and publicity into the community.

Patients should have access to book and cancel IA appointments between the hours of 18:30 – 20:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 – 12:00 Saturday and Sunday. SW Healthcare have set up a separate telephone line to enable patients to book or cancel these appointments within these hours. The Reception staff based at the Worcester hub will receive the incoming calls and will have the ability to book patients into one of the five hubs, depending on availability and whether it is appropriate.

The telephone number for patients to call to book or cancel an appointment is 01905 789061. Please note, making an improved access appointment means that you may be seen by a clinician who does not work for the surgery and the appointment will take place in a different practice. This number will only be available for patients to use during evening and weekend IA hours (Monday – Friday 18:30 – 20:00 and Saturday and Sunday 08:00 – 12:00). During core hours  patients will be required to contact their practice.

Please speak to the reception team if you have any queries.
