WHAT IS THE NHS APP?

The NHS App allows patients above the age of 13, who are registered with the practice, to manage their health at their convenience, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The NHS App can be accessed both via the downloaded smartphone/tablet app or via the NHS website. The app has been designed to give patients more freedom, convenience and involvement in the care you receive from the NHS.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR PATIENTS?

The use of the app will provide multiple benefits to patients. The main features of the app are below, however the app will allow those who want to be more involved in their care, to see the information on their medical records, including; Consultation Notes, Immunisations, Medical Conditions and Test Results.

For those patients who’s busy day often creates a problem for them being able to get in contact with the practice via telephone, the app now allows a selection of appointments to be booked in just a few clicks and provides a quick easy way to contact the practice should you need to request non-urgent medical or admin requests.

If you are a busy parent or carer to another individual, the app provides the ability for you to easily link your app to another individuals record (permission required).

HOW DO I GET ACCESS?

To get access, simply use the download button at the top of this page or go to: https://www.nhsapp.service.nhs.uk/login

For those who are new to the NHS app, you will be required to create an NHS login as part of the sign up process however the app will guide you through this step by step. You can also find some further guidance in the sections below.

REGISTERING WITH THE NHS APP

ORDERING REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS

Order your repeat prescription within the app in a few quick steps:

  1. Launch the app & login

  2. Click on the ‘Request repeat prescription’ button

  3. Confirm where you collect your prescription from (for dispensing patients please ensure you select the practice dispensary)

  4. Select the medicines you wish to order and select ‘Continue’

  5. You will be presented with a summary of your order to check before completing the request. Once you are happy this is correct, please select ‘Request Prescription’ at the bottom.

Following these steps, you will see a confirmation on screen that your order has been placed.

Once logged in to the NHS app, simply select ‘GP health record’ under the Your health section

ACCESSING YOUR MEDICAL RECORD

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

Patients can currently book both GP and Physiotherapy appointments online via the NHS app.

You will still be provided with a selection of appointments dependent on the GP you wish to see.

You will also see a selection of both telephone and face to face appointments to suit your preference.
